Trendy Floral Designs for Modern Brides: From Bridal Bouquets to Centerpieces

Calling all modern brides! Are you scanning websites and magazines for the latest color and design trends? We are going to write a quick wedding planning blog that shares our inside knowledge of the coolest floral wedding trends.

As we all know, floral designs from your ceremony to your reception play a crucial role in setting the tone and creating a truly memorable atmosphere on your wedding day. For modern brides who are looking to add a touch of sophistication and style into their wedding day, keeping up with the latest trends in floral design is essential! From bridal bouquets to centerpieces, here are some trending floral design ideas that are sure to make a statement on your wedding day.

1. Oversized Bouquets

Bye bye petite, understated, and super formal bridal bouquets. Modern brides are embracing the trend of oversized bouquets that make a bold and dramatic statement. These larger-than-life arrangements feature a variety of blooms in different shapes, sizes, stem lengths, and colors, creating a stunning visual impact. From cascading blooms to lush greenery, oversized bouquets add a touch of glamour and luxury to any bridal look.

At Archer & Bliss Floral, we affectionately call this style of bouquet "Organic" or "Garden-style" and it is (by far) our favorite to design! When you mix a numerous different flowers and greenery, you can create a "wild and organic" bouquet design.

2. Monochromatic Color Palettes

Monochromatic color palettes are a timeless trend in floral design that continues to be popular among modern brides. This sophisticated approach involves using flowers in varying shades of the same color to create a cohesive and elegant look. Whether you opt for a romantic all-white bouquet or a bold and vibrant monochromatic arrangement, this trend adds a touch of modernity and simplicity to your wedding florals.

Here is an example of a monochromatic purple bouquet we created for Markki. The color purple held significant importance for the bride, so we selected the most beautiful purple flowers for her oblong, organic bouquet.

3. Sustainable and Eco-Friendly Floral Designs

Sustainability is the foundation of our mission at Archer & Bliss Floral, and we know that this issue is becoming a growing concern for many couples. Eco-friendly floral design is a trend that is gaining momentum in the wedding industry - and we are secretly saying "FINALLY!" From locally sourced blooms to biodegradable floral foam, there are plenty of ways to incorporate sustainable practices into your wedding florals. By opting for eco-friendly options, modern brides can make a positive impact on the environment while still enjoying beautiful and stylish floral arrangements.

At the Archer & Bliss farm, we grow a wide variety of flowers and greenery that we use in our special event and wedding designs. For the items we don't grow on our farm, we have a dedicated network of flower farmers around Wisconsin that we purchase flowers from as well.

We take pride in showcasing Wisconsin or nationally grown flowers, as well as cutting back on our use of floral foam, single use plastics, and just being better to our environment. Below is a perfect example of bouquets that incorporate sustainable, local blooms. From Snapdragons to Peonies, Cheyanne's bouquets were a beautiful mix of traditional and sustainable flowers.

4. Floral Installations

Floral installations are a trend that is revolutionizing the way we think about ceremony and reception floral designs. Have you dreamed of gorgeous floral chandeliers or an arch full of flowers, these larger-than-life creations add a touch of drama and artistry to any wedding venue. Whether you choose to create a floral backdrop for your ceremony or a show-stopping centerpiece for your reception, floral installations are a captivating way to elevate your wedding decor.

We love to tell our brides, "If you can dream it, we can design it!" All floral installation ideas take several hours of planning, construction, and engineering to ensure the structural integrity of the floral design. Our team is happy to discuss your floral installation ideas with your wedding venue to validate if the design is feasible.

Here is a sustainable floral design we created for a romantic backyard wedding in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. The couple had their intimate ceremony in their backyard and had a beautiful catered dinner on their three seasons porch. The customer hung the initial plant hooks from the ceiling and we created the structure to support the florals.

5. Unexpected Floral Elements

Modern brides are thinking outside the box when it comes to incorporating floral elements into their wedding decor. From floral jewelry to floral-adorned cakes, there are endless possibilities for adding a touch of whimsy and creativity to your big day. Consider incorporating unexpected floral elements like flower crowns for your bridal party or floral accents in your wedding signage to infuse your wedding with a unique and personal touch.
