Winter is a wonderful time to get married because they offer a unique and magical atmosphere that sets them apart from weddings held in other seasons. Here are a few reasons why we love winter weddings:
- Romantic Ambiance: Winter weddings exude a sense of romance and coziness, making them perfect for couples who want a warm and intimate celebration.
- Seasonal Charm: Winter weddings embrace the beauty of the season, with snow-covered landscapes, twinkling lights, and holiday decorations adding a touch of magic to your special day. The seasonal charm of winter weddings creates a memorable and enchanting atmosphere for both the couple and their guests.
- Unique Photo Opportunities: Winter weddings provide unique photo opportunities, with snow-covered landscapes serving as the perfect backdrop for stunning wedding pictures. The soft winter light and muted color palette create a romantic and ethereal feel in photos.
- Beautiful flowers and greenery options: Winter weddings allow couples to showcase their favorite colors, mixed in with festive greenery and charm to enhance the decor.
Although local flowers from Archer & Bliss Floral are limited in the winter, there are a number of blooms that are in season and available through our trusted national wholesalers. If you are planning a winter wedding, the first questions you should ask your florist is, "What blooms are in season?" This opens up plenty of opportunities to order a variety of perfect blooms for your dream bouquet. Here are a few of our favorite flowers to highlight in winter wedding floral designs:
- Roses: Roses are farmed year-round internationally and available in any color you desire. White, reds, pinks, purples, and more! If you are looking for a different style of rose, consider upgrading to garden-style roses with layers of petals.
- Carnations: Tried and true, carnations are readily available for winter weddings. There are several ways a floral designer can manipulate a carnation to give the bloom an elevated feel. And new varieties of carnations are on the market and making a statement. These aren't your Grandma's carnations!
- Amaryllis: Large, trumpet-like, lily shaped flowers bloom on top of a tall, thick stem. Amaryllis blooms in shades of white, pink, and red with several color variations to bring that holiday charm.
- Anemone: The anemone is a delicate flower that brings a touch of spring to your winter wedding designs. Typically known for their black centers, these flowers are memorable.
- Berries: From Holly to Hypericum Berries, there is a wide variety of colorful berries and branches available to accent your winter wedding designs. Berries add texture and style to your bouquets and arrangements!
To bring home the winter wonderland vibe, we harvest fresh evergreen, cedar, dogwood, and branches from our Shawano, Wisconsin farm. Pinecones are readily available, too!
Ideas for Winter Wedding Color Palettes
Twist on Tradition - Red and burgundy are a common color for holiday weddings, but how about adding some blush and navy blue to the palette? Here is a great example with red roses, blush spray roses, blueberry viburnum, and seasonal greenery.
White, Sage, and Black - The cool whites and sage of this bouquet are warmed up with hints of ivory and cream. The black center of the anemone elevates the design with a touch of elegance and sophistication.
